Harlem Morning, Monday 11.09.09

American Beauty..

"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in. "

Looking out the window

Some days you look out the window and you see nothing there. Some days you look out the window and voila! Keep on looking, there's always bound to be something there.

The Dancer

There's a dance school just down the street from my office I pass by every so often. You can look up and see them dancing usually, mostly ballet. Makes me think of the PJ Harvey Song, The Dancer

He came riding fast like a phoenix out of fire flames
He came dressed in black with a cross bearing my name
He came bathed in light and the splendor and glory
I can't believe what the lord has finally sent me

He said dance for me, fanciulla gentil
He said laugh a while, i can make your heart feel
He said fly with me, touch the face of the true god
And then cry with joy at the depth of my love

Cause i've prayed days, i've prayed nights
For the lord just to send me home some sign
I've looked long, i've looked far
To bring peace to my black and empty heart

My love will stay till the river bed run dry
And my love lasts long as the sunshine blue sky
I love him longer as each damn day goes
The man is gone and heaven only knows

Cause i've cried days. i've cried nights
For the lord just to send me up some sign
Is he near? is he far?
Bring peace to my black and empty heart

So long day. so long night
Good lord, be near me tonight
Is he near? is he far?
Bring peace to my black and empty heart

Yankee's Parade

I've lived in NYC for over 12 years now and have been here for 3 of the World Series Champions, but not once did I make it to the ticker tape parade. This year there was not going to be an excuse or way out of it, besides my job was only blocks away and half the folks at work went. These are a selective few photos from that day.

Harlem in the Morning

The one thing with daylight loss is early morning return of sunshine. Nothing like natural lighting. Harlem provides a lot scenery for some unique shots. My bedroom window faces this deli so I wake up checking out what the sun situation is. Some poor cunt got popped months ago in front of this deli, but that's a whole nother story... Enjoy.

Rainy Days

I went up to Radio Shack to get my head phones replaced. Had bought this pair only 2 weeks ago and like a complete jack-ass managed to get the cords caught between my door, needless to say the fucking things weren't working any more. I went to Radio Shack to get my full waranty cover only to find out, it does pay out for self inflicted damage. Lesson learned? Come up with a better story which places the blame of the useless headphones on the manufacturer and not self. Besides, the customer is always right. On a normal day I would throw a hissy fit, instead I snapped some pics and these were them.  7th ave and 14th street Manhattan.

Bar Restroom Art Work

I often frequent bars. When I do, I drink, when I drink I drink a lot. When I drink a lot, a lot of things kinda come into focus as far as I want to do A, I do A, no B, no C, no D, just A. Almost like a focused Samurai, with a drunken style. Ok, that's just all gibbrish, but yes, I do drink a lot and take photographs. Best place for free art, political messaging and just a time out from the world is your local bar restroom. I'm sure you've gone in and been inspired. Here are a few takes from the restroom of Piano's I think, or maybe it was another bar....whatever, here they are.

The Ghost Bartendar

I was in MaxFish on a school night, several free drinks down already shit faced and shouldn't even had been out this late, but these things happen and that's just the way it is. It's always fun looking at my camera to discover photo's I've taken. Sometimes if I'm lucky, they help decode the night and when I'm extremely lucky, I get some ok shots.
